Spitfire Espresso
Named after the iconic WWII fighter plane, this place has the feel of a 40s era diner. The All Day Breakfasts at this place also punch on all cylinders. Spitfire is a place we have frequented over the years on a Sunday, when recovering from the night before 🥴🤣
Today we are hangover-free and making an effort to support local business before we attempt the ALDI shop ... Again 🙈

I have tried many things off the menu but return to my faithful! The “Lancaster Bomber”, simply a Full Breakfast with delicious cuts of Bacon 🥓,fair sized Lorne Sausage, well made fried Eggs 🍳 , Portobello Mushroom 🍄 , 🍅 and Spicy Black Pudding.
Oh - and don’t forget the Sourdough Toast, hiding underneath. Deeeeeelish!
It’s very well made, no grease to be found here, I would actually like to know how they cook their bacon as it’s one of the best in town!
To wash all that down it’s tradition for me to also get the Karma Cola! I am actually addicted to this Cola, it’s warm & spicy blend really compliments the food on offer here.
My partner wasn’t overly hungry so had the basic “Kingfisher” scrambled eggs on sourdough. Simple yet satisfying. Be sure to check Spitfire out if you like your coffee strong and dark; one of us loves there double espressos (bound to wake you up).
They have some impressive home made baking so I have taken home some “Upside Down Pineapple Cake” how very Brie Van Der Camp 💁🏻‍♂️, I plan to eat it later and post an update in the story.
The staff are always very friendly here and it has a lovely rustic feel. Be sure to check it out! @spitfireglasgow #brunch #breakfast #glasgow #merchantcity #instafood #foodporn #scotland #glasgowlife #instadaily #espresso #eggs #bacon #sausage #sourdough #karma #karmacola @karmacolauk #getoutside #whileyoucan #glasgowcitycentre #besafe

Non Viet
Vietnamese food is something that we love, our fave being the Hanoi Bike Shop 😍 we were pleased to see Non Viet appear on the limited selection @ubereats as we have been meaning to step in for a review for a while now.
The delivery was prompt, food was warm, the only downside was that there was no option to order soft drinks 🤔 Also we really fancied the Deep Fried Ice Cream but that wasn’t available, understandable though as it might not travel well.

For Starters we shared Chicken & Prawn Spring Rolls. These were to die for and so crunchy and the filling was so well balanced 😁 Much prefer this style to a Chinese Spring Roll. For my main I had the Caramelised Pork Belly and Egg with Jasmine Rice 🍜🍚 I found this very tasty although there was a little bit too much jelly fat on the Pork Belly for my taste, the meat itself was very tender.
My other half had the Coconut Curry Chicken with potatoes, carrot and onion which was pleasant but felt it was a bit heavy on the rice.
Overall, we were impressed, it was a little expensive as it came to over £35 without drinks for all 3 things 😬 We will 💯 be visiting to get the full experience when it opens back up to the public 😁 @nonviet #vietnam #vietnamesefood #takeout #ubereats #delivery #lockdown #selfisolation #stayathome #reviews #ILoveGLA #springrolls #porkbelly #chickencurry #glasgow #scotland #live #food #foodporn #instagood #instafood #instadaily #instamood #foodblogger #glorious

Tennent’s Training Academy
🙋🏻‍♂️Yesterday I had an amazing experience with my other half at the Tennent’s Training Academy Curry/Comedy night. 🍺 Here, you get to learn how to cook a dish with some great tips along the way. 👨🏻‍🍳 We got the vouchers for Xmas from Giftideasscotland.com - right up our street.
When I phoned up to book last week they actually said the class was fully booked all the way till June but managed to squeeze us in which was such a relief.
Once we arrived in our group we were taken in a van for a we short drive through the factory area to the cooking school building, it was great to see the sheer scale of the Tennent’s enterprise and while I’m not huge on Beer it does make you feel proud. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 When you arrive the group sits down and you can help yourself to Poppadoms and Beer/Cider. You get a chance to mingle with the other guests who were all lovely. 😁
This is then followed with a presentation on making a “crowd pleaser” Curry 🍛 by the upbeat Chef who was full of charisma (didn’t catch the name but very friendly guy). He demonstrated some excellent tips such as cutting the root of a whole garlic 🧄, microwaving it for 20 seconds and then the skin just whips off - we will defo be trying this at home!
Then it’s onto your workstations 🔪 where you follow the instructions and make a Masala style Curry (slightly milder) with coconut milk. The class was very easy to follow and the curry was so clean & fresh and the tips given on how to cook the chicken made it so juicy & tender.
Following our meal we were all taken in private taxis to the Rotunda Comedy Club for drinks and laughs (yesterday I’m sure you can imagine we all needed some laughs) 🤣
We both found this a unique, fun, culinary & well organised experience. There are many more in depth classes including Thai, Seafood & Afternoon Tea which we will hope to return for in the near future. @tta_insta #glasgow #glasgowfood #tennents #scotland #experience #gifts #curry #comedy #beer

Macdonald Inchyra Hotel and Spa
Who run the world? GALS of course 💁‍♀️ A spa day seemed fitting as it's International Women's Day. Our Spa Package included : A 30 minute treatment, full use of the leisure facilities until 6pm, afternoon tea & a glass of prosecco. For the two of us this was £140. We were provided with fluffy white robes & slippers to get us right in the spa mood. 💆‍♀️ A dip in the pool was had 🏊‍♀️ & the sauna was used to sweat out all those toxins. Be careful when walking around the pool area with your slippers on, very slippy with the water & many people nearly hitting the deck, including us 😮😂 This could be rectified with a little TLC etc.

I opted for Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage. The lovely @rachellaurenarnold gave me the most amazing massage with perfect pressure. We had such a good chat as well & she was really bubbly. Which I like as it's great when there's a touch of personality shining through 😁 Great service Rachel thank you! The spa has a luxurious, relaxed vibe.

Afternoon tea time 🍰 Prosecco to start which went down a treat 🥂 A dainty lil' teapot was given to us along with our cake stand. Personally I think it should come with a description of what each thing is as it's difficult to tell what's in the sweet/sandwich sections of the stand. The sandwiches were pleasant but lacked filling & the presentation could have been slightly better. The scones were a DELIGHT 😍 They were so light in texture & they were also warm. Lathered with the cream & jam was just spot on 👌The sweet tier of the stand was rather quirky, displaying tasty treats of pistachio, zesty lemon & strawberry macaroons. The best one was the chocolate lollipop style dessert, which had a gooey, rich caramel centre.. Indulgence a plenty 🍫🍭😍 Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here & felt extremely relaxed as the day came to an end. A treat which I think everyone needs once in a while to relieve the stresses of life. Would like to pop back again to try more treatments & try the dining menu. @macdonaldinchyra

Sapporo Teppanyaki
💁🏻‍♂️ - After a very active day walking around in the sun ☀️ at the Glasgow Necropolis & Cathedral, me and my Gluten-Free (Celiac) buddy worked up an appetite & decided on a lunch time visit to Japanese-Show Performing- Fire 🔥 Raising- “Sapparo Tepenyaki”
We opted for the set menu so £16 for 2 courses. Starter and Mains. I personally opted for Chicken Gyoza Dumplings 🥟 a firm fave of mine. These were presented very basic but tasted nice, crunchy on one side and soft on the other (I personally prefer a light crunch all over).
Once your starter is served, a personal chef comes to your table which is so cool, followed by amazing fire tricks and games like throwing the delish potato slices and catching in your mouth. It’s really fun, friendly, good banter and gets you socialising with other guests at the table.
For my main I had the Steak (£3 supp) teriyaki with fried rice. The chef asked for my preference which was medium/rare but it was served more medium, my friend also agreed it was medium. There was also some fatty chunks on the steak. I did enjoy it - was just ok though.
The restaurant can pride itself on being almost 100% gluten free apart from some sauces. There seemed to be a bit of confusion with my friend who has celiac disease, serving her salmon teryaki with a gluten sauce which she witnessed as it was being made. This was easily rectified but had it not been noticed by herself, as it was made in front of us, she would have been very ill. This did put a little dampener on the experience.
The chef was very apologetic and they gave us the salmon complimentary to take home with us so all good 👍🏻
Having been a few times to Sapparo, it’s getting an overall 4. The concept and tricks makes it a fun, unique experience. Some more inspired presentation of starters and attention to detail will take it to the next level! @sapporoglasgow #japanese #glasgow #reviews #food #critics #glasgowfood #steak #salmon #teryaki #gyoza #scotland
