Happy Pancake ๐Ÿฅž Day to you all! ๐Ÿฅฐ
Where to start here ๐Ÿ˜ look at these pics, it speaks volumes, I challenge anyone to post us a better looking bunch of pancakes today!!!! Game On! ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
My Pancakes are better than yours ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿคฃ
Unfortunately Miss Diner had to go to work today, so I was left with the really hard task of checking out this new East-side offering from the owners of Cafe Strange Brew (Southside) all alone.
What is with the East side just now, first Scran and now this, hopefully a sign of more to come.
I arrived rather eagerly at 9am sharp and service was very bright and bushy tailed, nice lounge music with some rap thrown in too. Lil bit funky! ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿป I have to give some credit here to the Pancake Queen that is @thingselleneats she is killing all things Brunch and has such a lovely style be sure to check out her page, wouldnโ€™t have seen this without your posts so thanks ๐Ÿ™
So this pancake combination was savoured beyond belief. The pancakes themselves were a surprise, more of a rosti style not overly sweet. This for me worked amazing and really compliments the sweet toppings of raspberries with curd, roasted pear ๐Ÿ and apricot, buttered almond flakes, camomile and lemon ๐Ÿ‹ panacotta and some sprigs of mint. It was like going on a journey through a Summer Garden. A beautiful experience.
I feel like this place is a superb wee find and run by a close group of people, it's a friendly cosy atmosphere with various locals coming in and out saying hello to each other.
I have to be honest Iโ€™ve not ever ventured very much into the East end but along with this venue and Scran I will be frequenting the area and hope to see more amazing places like this pop up.
Service was lovely, lady in a beanie, I was going to hand her our card this time as we keep getting into trouble for not introducing ourselves but we have to retain our Mystery ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿคฃ Be sure to check this place out. The other options look amazing!
Hope everyone enjoys Pancake Day! Love Mystery Diners xxx ๐Ÿ˜˜ @mesa_glasgow #happypancakeday #pancakes #brunch #review #eastside #glasgow #live #ilovegla #boujee #pretty #tasty

Pavement
Sunday.. Waking up to a rare ray of sunshine in Glasgow.. Yaaass! ๐Ÿ˜ We decide to go for lunch & fancied searching for something a bit different.. Our feet took us to Pavement ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Diner 1 ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ
Starter - House Sour Beer Cured Salmon.
A pink explosion of sheer elegance, simply stunning. Like a piece of art. Such an interesting dish which was accompanied by pickled veg & coleslaw. It was fresh & breezy, so light with a perfect mix of flavours ๐Ÿ‘Œ
Main - A special on the menu, Monkfish tailed scampi.
This was a rather interesting mix of flavours, it had similar pickled veg to the starter. The fish inside was mouth watering & tender although the breadcrumb coating was a little too crunchy, a lighter batter would be my preference . I enjoyed it all the same ๐Ÿ™‚

Diner 2 ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Starter - (which is actually a side, I like to be different ๐Ÿ˜‰) Halloumi with chilli.. Oh ma lord. Amazing, so full of flavour, nice & crisp with a good chilli kick ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Main - Pavement Cheeseburger with Pork Belly & fries.
This dish was the bomb! Perfect succulent burger, topped with crispy pork belly & rich melting cheese. All in encased in a lovely, sweet brioche bun with fresh salad. Also the pink sauce was really different, Decent burger ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ” The fries were homemade & so fluffy, just melted in your mouth ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿคค AMAZING.

We will definitely be back to try more dishes... The service was relaxed & down to earth. It was actually the owner who served us & he was such a lovely guy ๐Ÿ˜ The value is smashing for the high standard of food that you are receiving. Pavement is a creative breath of fresh air through the city of Glasgow. It gets 5 stars from The Mystery Diners, we recommend you give this lil' gem a visit ๐Ÿ˜ @pavementglasgow @ilovegla

Sugo Pasta
With Storm Dennis in full swing, we threw caution to the wind ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ & decided to go for a late lunch to the very much 'hyped up' Sugo pasta joint. Owned by the famous 'Paesano' restaurants, we were anticipating something great here.. Diner 1 ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ I chose dish number 8 - Agnolotti filled with veal, potato and cavolo nero in brown butter and thyme. The pasta was adequate, pleasant yet the presentation was rather basic. It was a little oily for my liking which can be seen in the picture, Iโ€™ve had similar dishes from Tescoโ€™s Finest ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚ The veal and potato inside the ravioli was rich and creamy, I just found it very middle of the road & after so much hype I was expecting to be blown away. I also had a side of Sourdough bread, wasn't the best. Out of the 3 slices of bread provided, I ate half of one & the rest were taken away at the end before I even got a chance to respond to the waitress. Not that I was overly fussed as it was bland and not adding much to my meal. You would expect garlic bread to go with pasta am I right?
Diner 2 ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ
I opted for number 5 - Pappardelle with slow cooked beef ragu ๐Ÿ This dish was nice, yet again simple presentation. The beef was tender and the ragu was pleasant. Mind blowing? No. I had a couple of sides too, spicy Cannelini beans with sunblush tomato. The beans were a little hard & it was lacking a real kick of flavour. Also I had burrata which is a cheese made from mozzarella & cream. It was surrounded by tomatoes & drizzled with olive oil. I enjoyed this but it should be explained on the menu as a sharing dish as it's far too much for one.

Simplicity & low cost seems to be the business model for Sugo, it's nothing groundbreaking but you are getting what you pay for. Like Paesano, the sides & desserts are limited & not very appealing.
Adding fresh garlic bread/focaccia & an option of hand cut chips would be more appealing in our opinion. Desserts are lacking big time. We simply found this place to be 'alright'. Paesano has the edge we'd say.. Maybe joining these restaurants together would be a good idea? ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ @sugopastaglasgow #glasgow #foodbloggers #food

Amber Regent
Love is in the air ๐Ÿ’•
To stay in or go out for Valentines that is the question? Hasnโ€™t 2020 been a damp squid so far? โ›ˆ
It was dry for a few hours last night so we decided to give Amber Regent, voted one of Glasgowโ€™s best Chinese ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ restaurants a go.
With fans such as Billy Connolly and Matt Lucas we thought this suited our classy nature ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ
They were extremely accommodating squeezing us in so last minute and we canโ€™t thank them enough because guys and gals, think we have possibly discovered the best Chinese in Glasgow!
As one of my all time fave foods growing up, itโ€™s fair to say that Glasgow city centre is severely lacking in amazing Chinese restaurants when you compare to the likes of other metropolitan China Town offerings. A rare find some might say.. ๐Ÿง
We shared a Chinese Platter which was Devine, my goodness! What to say! Prawn dishes are never my highlight but Prawn Toast and Tempura stole the show with amazing seasoning and light batter. Incredibly moreish! Honestly I prefer chicken satay and ribs any day but these two platter dishes were incredibly impressive! Will be back for this platter and maybe have it all to myself? ๐Ÿคฃ
For Mains I indulged in a Crispy Pork Belly, Bao Bun. I was not expecting this great presentation but at first Iโ€™m not going to lie, Iโ€™ve had Crispy Pork Belly elsewhere and not seen that much fat attached to it.
Let me tell you right now, this was the best thing ever! The fat was so crispy and mouth watering (sorry vegetarians), never tasted fat like that ๐Ÿคฃand the accompaniments for my Bao Bun were so lush! Will be back for this dish.
My ball and chain had the Beef with ginger, shallots and fried rice. It was very satisfying, the beef was tender and juicy, but we were both a bit hammered by the end of the meal so.. ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿคฃ
The service was brilliant, the manageress was fantastic. All the staff were chirpy. Subsequent research shows itโ€™s been going for 30 years strong and itโ€™s not hard to see why! Well done guys! We shall be back! @amberregent #chinese #glasgow #instadaily #instafood #reviews #critics #foodblog #glasgowfoodblogger

Nardinis, Largs
Opened in 1935 by Tuscan born Pietro Nardinis, this venue is oozing in Italian ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น history and has long been a personal family favourite. Like the seaside town itself, it has seen a decline in footfall since itโ€™s heyday as families would flock here to go โ€œdoon by the waterโ€ before the age of affordable package holidays. Think of this place as a mini Brighton, in the summer โ˜€๏ธ months. They would make enough revenue to keep them in profit throughout the whole year.
With this decline, the family run business went into administration in 2008 and has since been taken over by the owners of Toni Macaroni and has had a multi million pound revamp.
The venue feels vintage when you walk in with an Art Deco feel and 80s style carpets (bit grubby but apart from that, the place looks good)
When we arrive the venue is actually quite busy for a Thu evening in Feb. Many diners can be seen eating Fish and Chips but we are here for one thing only - the famous Ice Cream ๐Ÿจ
Presented with a bright, colourful menu there is something here for everyone. I opt for the palette cleansing Crunchy Lemon ๐Ÿ‹ Pavlova and a glass of Prosecco. This was simply to die for. Excellent presentation, the most delicious ice cream ๐Ÿจ with gorgeous white chocolate flakes, lemoncello sauce, crispy wafer, whipped cream and a cherry ๐Ÿ’ on top. This is a classic dessert of its time that the Loop and Scoop generation would do well to give a try.
My friend wasnโ€™t feeling very adventurous so just has Meringue and Strawberries which she enjoyed very much. Service was good but the manager could be overheard being a little sharp to the staff - tut tut -not on the floor guys ๐Ÿคฃ
If you havenโ€™t been to Largs itโ€™s well worth a visit and Nardinis is essential, probably more so in the summer months and while youโ€™re at it take the ferry to Millport and get the bikes ๐Ÿšฒ to cycle round. Itโ€™s a fun, family day out. @nardinis_cafe #icecream #dessert #seaside #instagood #instadaily #instafood
