Have you heard about the “Supper Club” at the @milk_cafeglasgow Well, prepare to be amazed! I specifically visited the Southside to try this venue the other day as this place is doing a few things which just sing 🎶 to me!<br />
<br />
1. Supporting Refugee Women by employing them 💕<br />
2. Doing a different “World 🌍 Food” Theme every week. Bringing cuisines which have NEVER been explored before in Glasgow &<br />
3. Donating £1 for every meal going towards charity.<br />
<br />
The cafe is super cute with amazing artwork 🖼, “girl power” murals @ hanging plant baskets 🌱<br />
<br />
I chose to go this week as I was so intrigued to try the “Syrian” menu. It has been well documented that Syria 🇸🇾 has had a terrible time and I was so interested to learn about the people, the culture and what traditional recipes they would make.<br />

Starter - Pickled Turnip & Salad 🥗<br />

I am all for everything being pickled. These were very tasty 😋<br />

Mains - Lamb Meatballs with Cherry 🍒 & Rice<br />
<br />
What a showstopper of a meal! This recipe is very traditional to Syria and was recently shown on Masterchef. Such a quirky ingredient to use with meatballs the fruitiness was just 👍🏻<br />
I will definitely be trying to recreate this myself!<br />

Dessert 🍮<br />
<br />
Rice Pudding with Pistachio & Rose. This was pleasant, very fragrant. Just a couple of ingredients bring the rice pudding to life!<br />

All of this is £12.50 p.p which I find to be incredibly good value and love the fact that £1 goes to charity! Go give @milk_cafeglasgow a follow and support this amazing cause & concept!<br />

The question we have been asking ourselves since visiting Cafe Gandolfi is.. WHY THE HELL HAVE WE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE?! 😮😂 We had the most attentive & friendly waitress, she happily answered any questions we had about the menu. The decor has a rather antique feel to it, we think it would be a perfect place to go on a cold, frosty night for a warming meal & a glass of vino 🍴🍷<br />

Easily one of the best dishes I have ever eaten 🤤 The flavours were insane! Please make this a permanent dish 🙏 A must try!<br />

Main - Peat Smoked Haddock, Crushed Potatoes, Mustard Cream, Poached Egg.<br />
<br />
Really enjoyed this dish, the fish was so fresh! The poached egg worked really well with the fish 😍 The potatoes were lacking slightly in seasoning for me.<br />

Isle of Barra Scallops, Chestnut Veloute, Smoked Bacon, Apple & Maple Syrup.<br />

Scallops were perfectly cooked, full of flavour. Lovely smokey taste from the bacon & a slight sweetness from maple syrup 👌<br />
<br />
Main - Pulled Ox Cheek, Charred Greens, Shallot Ash, Burnt Onion Emulsion.<br />
<br />
We both had a taste of this as we had never tried ox cheek before.. YUM. So tender! Presented beautifully, such a tasty & warming dish 😍 the sourdough bread was a bit too crispy, quite difficult to bite into.<br />
<br />
Miss Diner had to have a dessert 😛 Warm Caramel Shortcake with Isle of Arran Ice cream. HOLY HELL... AMAZING. Like seriously, the actual dream 🤤 making highly inappropriate noises with every mouthful 😛😂 that's when you know that its hit the spot!<br />

C'est Magnifique 🇫🇷<br />

We choose Atlantic for what we thought would be our last “Eat Out To Help Out” in August and it didn’t disappoint.<br />
<br />
This venue and its sister The Anchor Line situated directly above is a homage to the Atlantic Restaurant of 1938. The Anchor line shipping company 🚢 were known for luxury travel from Scotland to exotic destinations, with the nouvelle cuisine of France served onboard.<br />
<br />
For Starters I had the French Onion Soup which I hadn’t had in ages. Just Wow! It was very hot, cooked right through but it was super delicious. 😋 A real Winter Warmer so maybe best suited for that time of year but I would definitely have this again, that cheese and crouton were unreal.<br />
<br />
For my main I opted for the LA POITRINE DE PORC FARCIE - Smoked honey glazed pork belly, black pudding with date, rosemary & thyme stuffing, creamy mash, smoked pancetta, Toulouse sausage & bean cassoulet, rich onion gravy. The pork was so tender, cooked lovely and I really enjoyed it. The balance of flavours were gorgeous. The only thing I would say is that it’s quite a heavy menu,so definitely suitable for the winter months for a bit of stodge. I would want to arrive very hungry for next time.<br />
<br />
Service I found was very polite and efficient, perhaps a little over attentive. The setting I just loved, the lighting and seatings were very cosy and it felt luxurious and intimate. Leaving with £20 off the bill it came to £72 which I thought was really good value. Even at full price i would say it’s inline with what your getting. We would definitely return when we want to eat something that will warm the soul. @atlanticbrasserie<br />

Part 1<br />

Throwback to early this year & a video appears online, @sixbynico owner & well renowned chef Nico Simeone is in his office with his staff, presenting & handing over his star chef Modou, with a whole business. His 111 branch is being changed from Nico to Modou. It is documented that Modou came to this country with just a small amount of cash to his name & had lived rough for sometime & managed to totally turn his life around. So for us, this was a must visit! This isn’t just a restaurant. This is a story of passion, friendship, self belief, hard work & talent. 💕<br />

The Food 🕵️‍♂️ (Mr Diners Menu)<br />

1 BLACK TRUFFLE<br />
<br />
Presented to the most excellent standard. I could have eaten about 5 of these. They have to be savoured however. This was the epitome of fine dining & a real show opener<br />
<br />
2 SMOKED HAM HOUGH<br />
<br />
Just wow - check out the video & the amazing smoking presentation. This was not all style over substance however. This was actually my favourite dish out of the 6 dishes I tried. The Ham meat was smooth & I’ve never had such a delicate piece of fat alongside. It actually made fat elegant? How did they do that? Perfection!<br />

3 DUCK<br />
<br />
This dish was also really nice. I can’t cast my mind back too much to the flavours (I’ll blame the wine) but i remember i enjoyed it.<br />
<br />
4 LAMB BELLY<br />
<br />
So this was my least favourite but it was still very nice. The textures didn’t flow as well as the other options but still to a high standard.<br />
<br />
5 CHEESE (SUPP)<br />
<br />
We all opted for this and it was actually one of the best dishes. The cheese was an unusual Camembert which can be purchased from a store on Great Western Rd so I will need to enquire as it was one of the best. The piece of cake was also so nice with the cheese 🧀<br />
<br />
6 LEMON<br />
<br />
I loved this dessert palate cleanser. The basil ice cream was heavenly with the citrus contrast. Herby & earthy with that zest it was an uplifting way to finish a wonderful experience<br />
<br />
Part 2 - Miss Diner 🙋‍♀️<br />
<br />
Two words that spring to my mind when thinking about my experience at Modou would be indulgent & exquisite! What a treat, the quality of the food & the service is impeccable 🤩 Our waiter was a lovely guy called Nico! He was a fountain of knowledge & so helpful talking us through each course (and that all important matching wine flight 😉🍷)<br />
<br />
1st - Black Truffle (pictured in Mr Diner's review) Yeah we had the same to start 😂 If you are a fan of Black Truffle then you will love this flavoursome number!<br />
<br />
2nd - Loch Etive Sea Trout (1st picture) WOW. That charred flavour though 🤤 the fish was extremely smooth & that Quail's Egg was a match made in heaven!<br />
<br />
3rd - Pink Fir Apple Potato This was an interesting mix of flavours with the potato cooked a few different ways 😉 with a pea emulsion, bloody good I'll tell ye!<br />
<br />
4th - Shetland Cod I loved this dish, the mix of chorizo & mussels really brought out the flavours in the fish! Delish 😍<br />
<br />
Cheese Supp - I love cheese so that got devoured 😂🧀<br />
<br />
5th - Golden Peach I normally love a chocolate dessert but this seriously changed my mind 😍 the flavours of juicy peach & ginger were incredible! Sweet & zingy 🤤<br />

Last weekend was a rather wild one.. 🤣 So it was a hair of the dog situ on the Sunday 🙈 We decided to go to @barcatapas for a few light bites & some Sangria 🍷💃<br />

Barca is a traditional Tapas & Cava Bar located in the beautiful Princes Square. To eat we had -<br />

🍴Halloumi a La Parrilla - Grilled Halloumi marinated in cumin & lemon with smoky chilli jam<br />
<br />
🍴Tortilla Del Dia - Spanish style omelette made with layers of sliced potato, egg & onion<br />
<br />
🍴Tortas De Camaron - Prawn fritters served with aioli<br />
<br />
🍴Alitas De Pollo - Chicken wings cooked in honey & chilli<br />
<br />
🍴Croquetas De Jamon Y Queso - Crisp croquettes stuffed with serrano ham & manchego cheese, served with a smoky cheese dip<br />
<br />
We also had a big jug of Barca Sangria which they make themselves, lovely & fruity 🍓<br />
<br />
We enjoyed our food here, tasted fresh & was just the ticket to line our stomachs for a Sunday Funday 🎉😜 We'd say for what you get, the value isn't all that great. I'm sure if you visit Mon-Wed it will be cheaper with the Eat out to Help out scheme 😁<br />
