Mezcal is a Mexican tapas style 'canteen' situated on Glasgow's Hope Street. A wee nugget of knowledge, Mezcal is actually a Mexican distilled spirit made from the agave plant. All those Mexican vibes hit you as soon as you walk through the door.. Day of the dead skulls, Mexican pictures/themed decor which is rather cultured and colourful. The piercing neon lights catch your eye too, which makes this place quite quirky. Somewhere to go for cocktails as well as a bite to eat.

To start we ordered cocktails.. A Frozen Margarita and The Paloma. Tasty and refreshing 🍹

Homemade Guacamole with Tortilla chips to start. The tortilla chips were just rather ordinary, the guac was a good blend of flavours. Next up I had the Dorados taco, fried chicken, iceberg lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and coriander. This for me was average. The taco was like a wrap, not a lot of flavour at all and the chicken was dried up and not juicy. It comes presented on paper too which just rips while you cut into it. I also ordered Chilli Cheese Fries on the side. Just ordinary 'oven' style skinny chips. The chilli was tasty though with a bit of a spicy kick!
My friend is vegetarian so she had The Calabaza taco, courgette, corn, tomato, coriander and sweet potato puree. She described this as tasty and pleasing on the eye.

Overall, I do think this is a quirky little place to eat and drink and visually it's lovely but some things need a little tweeking. Value isn't that bad as it's tapas but the service just wasn't up to my standards. The food for me wasn't anything to write home about 🤷‍♀‍ I've experienced much better Mexican food in Glasgow. We do pride ourselves on honesty folks 💁‍♀‍👌 maybe I'll revisit to try something different!
✨ May The Everyman Cinema Be With You ✨ ‘Tis the Season 🎄 to be out and about and what better excuse for a few drinks and bite to eat than the finale of the Star Wars Series.
This boujey boutique cinema opened a year or two ago on the ground level of Princes Square and we have enjoyed a couple of visits here. It is super quirky with funky comfortable furniture and tables for you to get table service while viewing the latest blockbusters along with a variety of cocktails and wine selections.
Instantly the service and setting just trump the likes of Cineworld and Odeon. This is a classy cinema. The staff/service are funky and have always been extremely bubbly and friendly on all our visits. The setting is full marks for it being a cinema and Star Wars 🤣 go see the new film guys it’s a great end and improvement on the last one. ✨
The tapas we chose were delicious. Big flavoursome olives, bite sized chorizo which is to die for. Juicy and packed with flavour and a wood fire aftertaste. The Guacamole was nice but be warned it comes with a kick and a fair bit of chilli 🌶 but I love spicey so all good for me.
For my main I had the wood fired pizza which was cute and easy to pick up. It was very fresh toppings.
My partner had the burger and chips which he said was fairly decent. The food is really nice, not outstanding but you kind of want just simple dishes while watching a film so it does the job.
Overall we highly recommend this venue for its unique approach to cinema and hospitality. The price is a bit higher but you get a totally different experience from your normal cinemas.
Comparing it to The Grosvenor cinema we prefer Everyman for its more varied menu, more comfortable seating, the bubbly staff and lovely reception area. @everymanglasgow #glasgow #cinema #experiences #live #boutique #tapas #pizzas #burgers #gourmet #cocktails #starwars #film #fanatic #christmas #nightsout #instafilm #instadaily #instafood #reviews #critics #bloggers #mystery #diners

🙋‍♀️ Nothing like skipping the gym to go out for a chinese right? 🙈🙊 The Cotton House Chinese Restaurant has always been a place I've wanted to go, so as one half of the 'Mystery Diners', I had to give it the taste test! This is an authentic Chinese restaurant with beautiful decor to compliment. As you walk in your eyes are quickly drawn to the over sized fish tank, which made me think of that famous movie scene in Romeo & Juliet. Maybe you could lock eyes with the love of your life through this fish tank? Who knows 🤷‍♀️😂 Very spacious & bright with an extensive bar (we like that 🙌🥂) As it's December, the staff had clearly made an effort to decorate the place to make you feel all those festive vibes 🎄

To start I chose Chicken Satay on skewers. Yum, yum, yum!! The chicken was so juicy it just fell away from the skewer & was packed with flavour. The satay sauce was tasty and fresh. Not oily at all. For my main I opted for Salt & Chilli Chicken with a side of Salt & Chilli chips. I'm all about the salt & chilli life 😋 This was to die for!! If you love proper chinese food, this is a must!! The chicken again was so tender and flavoursome. The chips were perfect, couldn't fault them 😍 with an added drizzle of delicious curry sauce, this made for one fab lil' dish 🙌 The service was good & attentive, but maybe a bit rushed at times. The value was spot on as this was the pre-theatre menu which was 2 courses for £18.50.

To conclude, the food was outstanding and I can't wait to visit again to try other dishes 😍 @thecottonhouserestaurant #mysterydiners #glasgow #centralscotland #foodbloggers #reviews #food #scran

aka "Spuntinis" - This eye catching Italian came highly recommended from a friend and it had already caught my eye due to its beautiful floral display and open front doors in the summer months. 🌸

I was meeting my Dad for an early Xmas 🎄lunch and when we arrived the place was busy and it is stunning inside with a gorgeous blossom tree when you enter and they have Santa hats on all the place mats getting in the festive spirit. The menu needs a bit of explaining at first but it is generally smaller Italian Tapas and you can share a variety of pasta dishes in the centre of the table. They also have pizzas, calzones but we decide to go with the main concept.

We decide to share the Pasta Mi Casa in the centre of our table. This was beautiful and the best seller with chunks of broccoli, mushroom, garlic, cream & chilli. Super traditional and a must have! For my Tapas I chose the Stornaway Black Pudding Croquettes, these were lightly coated with a creamy mash that melted in the mouth, this came with a mustard sauce. The real dish that blew me away was the Chicken Stew with vegetables in a Spicy Italian Sauce served with Fired Dough Sticks. This was so addictive and I wanted even more dough sticks to dunk in the delicious sauce.

My Dad had the Fish Stew and Italian Spring Roll which he enjoyed very much and said it was a 5/5.

The service was super friendly and attentive with all the waiters being very smiley and chatty and they are all wearing tartan aprons that almost look like Kilts. It was well organised and felt like a well oiled Italian machine.

I would 💯 want to come back soon and show this place off to friends and family. It’s a must try!
🙋🏻‍♂️Newly opened Bucks Bar has been all the chat 💭 down the Merchant City. It seems that chicken/waffle combos are the in thing and this new venue is a welcome addition to the corner next to Maggie Mays. Inside it feels like you have been transported to 1950s USA with rockabilly music like a genuine 50s diner. Some very NSFW signage provides the lols, so parents might think twice about taking the kids here.
Service is outstanding with friendly warm banter. For my meal, I choose the Flaming Mac n Cheese Chicken and Waffles. What a combination. It’s the day after more Christmas party’s and this boy wants carbs 🙋🏻‍♂️, which this meal from Bucks bar delivers tenfold. I love my spice and this dish is HOT 🔥 It was the best mac n cheese I have had in a long time, and furthermore, the chicken was amazing so tender and crunchy batter which wasn’t greasy like a KFC. For sides, I had some Korean Fried Chicken Wings and Sweet Potato Fries
💁🏻‍♀️Entering the venue, I loved the cheeky innuendo of the signage as I have quite a mischevious personality, I also loved the 1950s feel of the joint. I opted for the MexiCheese Chicken Burger - Tex Mex cheese sauce, American cheese, jalapeños and crisp lettuce, with the salt and chilli fries. This dish is a sight for sore eyes, with a large portion. Very tasty with tender chicken with a crispy coating. If you love cheese you'll love this. The chips were seasoned well and very spicy.
Bonus Opinion: Ordering a Mojito, I found it to be a bit overly sweet, and this seemed to be the case for the other cocktails the others had. For food, I ordered The Buck Mac - a chicken "burger" with Mac sauce, crisp lettuce and American cheese. This was a very large bit of chicken in a nice crispy coating with a bun covering a small amount of the chicken( with cheese). A very generous American sized portion, full of flavour and very tasty. Perfect if you're hungry.
Overall, the vibes and atmosphere, as well as the scran, make it potentially addictive, encouraging you to return to this fun venue. @bucksbartrongate #glasgow#instafood
