Paesano Pizza
Paesano Pizza has become a huge staple part of Glasgow culture. With queues out the door on even a quieter day, it has become very popular with students and the younger market.
This being our second visit, we came before we started our blog. The key to their success is simple - no fuss, no frills. With only 8 options of Pizza to choose from and rather obscure side options of just salad and Anti pasti style vegetables. No fries, breads or Pastas. (You will have to visit the new Sugo to experience that) They are delivering delicious, Italian, wood fired pizza. The dough is to die for. One of us who is not a lover of Pizza Crust even demolished the lot. I opted for the Fennell Sausage, Sugo option and my partner had the Capers (yes that’s right a fish pizza). The toppings were nice and fresh. I would prefer a spicy chicken or dare I say it Hawaiian option 🀣 and think they could introduce a few more toppings to appeal to an even wider audience. Also the drinks menu is just limited to wine and soft drinks which seems to disappoint as people to either side of us were requesting ciders and cocktails.
It’s obvious that the simplicity is what makes this place work though and allows for a quick turn around. Service was nice but lacking in any personal touch and for Β£8 per pizza this large & tasty it really is great value. Go and try it for yourself, it certainly won’t break the bank. @paesanopizzaglasgow #instadaily #instafood #foodporn #glasgow #live #reviews #critics #pizza #pizza4days #mystery #diners #musttry #greatvalue #woodfired #popular #scotland #foodies

Duck Bay Marina
Quack quack ladies & gents.. The Mystery Diners found themselves at Duck Bay after a lovely boat tour around Loch Lomond β›΅πŸ¦†
With beautiful views of the water, this restaurant is the perfect place to come for a bite to eat while visiting Loch Lomond. It's Christmas time & Duck Bay is draped in lights & festive decorations! As you walk in you are met with a lovely, cosy atmosphere. The waiter took us over to our table where we ordered some drinks.

To start, Sizzling Prawns which came out with bread that was a little burnt and only 6 prawns in the dish. I did find it to be tasty but yes could have done with a few more prawns for the asking price. The sauce was sweet and spicy which was nice for dunking the bread. For my main I had Chicken Fajitas, which was described as the best dish on the menu by the waiter and it didn’t disappoint. The chicken was so tender & juicy. The toppings were the usual suspects creme fraiche, guacamole, salsa and cheese. A very generous portion! One of us only got 3 tortilla wraps and the other 6 which was easily rectified but consistency is key πŸ‘Œ

Diner 2 had Macaroni Cheese Au Gratin with Bacon bits & Garlic Bread. This wasn't overly sickening which a lot of macaronis can be. I failed to understand the 'Au Gratin' part of the dish, although I'm not sure if that was the rather well done cheese on top. The bacon added a good meaty flavour.

Diner 3 had a starter of Duck Liver pate. I thought this dish was tasty & light. For the main I had Steak & Sausage Pie, served with veg & potatoes. This was rather average in my opinion! The presentation was rather awful.

Lastly, diner 4 had a Prawn cocktail to start. Lovely with lots of prawns, but lacking in sauce. I enjoyed the Chicken Fajitas as my main also, yum!

Overall, I think Duck Bay Marina is a lovely place to go visually. The setting is beautiful by the water. The food isn't anything to write home about. The chicken fajitas I would say was the winning dish. Value isn't great & service was lacking a personal touch. I would return when in Loch Lomond to see the sights & try something new! @duckbaymarina

Mezcal
Mezcal is a Mexican tapas style 'canteen' situated on Glasgow's Hope Street. A wee nugget of knowledge, Mezcal is actually a Mexican distilled spirit made from the agave plant. All those Mexican vibes hit you as soon as you walk through the door.. Day of the dead skulls, Mexican pictures/themed decor which is rather cultured and colourful. The piercing neon lights catch your eye too, which makes this place quite quirky. Somewhere to go for cocktails as well as a bite to eat.

To start we ordered cocktails.. A Frozen Margarita and The Paloma. Tasty and refreshing 🍹

Homemade Guacamole with Tortilla chips to start. The tortilla chips were just rather ordinary, the guac was a good blend of flavours. Next up I had the Dorados taco, fried chicken, iceberg lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and coriander. This for me was average. The taco was like a wrap, not a lot of flavour at all and the chicken was dried up and not juicy. It comes presented on paper too which just rips while you cut into it. I also ordered Chilli Cheese Fries on the side. Just ordinary 'oven' style skinny chips. The chilli was tasty though with a bit of a spicy kick!
My friend is vegetarian so she had The Calabaza taco, courgette, corn, tomato, coriander and sweet potato puree. She described this as tasty and pleasing on the eye.

Overall, I do think this is a quirky little place to eat and drink and visually it's lovely but some things need a little tweeking. Value isn't that bad as it's tapas but the service just wasn't up to my standards. The food for me wasn't anything to write home about πŸ€·β€β™€β€ I've experienced much better Mexican food in Glasgow. We do pride ourselves on honesty folks πŸ’β€β™€β€πŸ‘Œ maybe I'll revisit to try something different!

Everyman Cinema
✨ May The Everyman Cinema Be With You ✨ β€˜Tis the Season πŸŽ„ to be out and about and what better excuse for a few drinks and bite to eat than the finale of the Star Wars Series.
This boujey boutique cinema opened a year or two ago on the ground level of Princes Square and we have enjoyed a couple of visits here. It is super quirky with funky comfortable furniture and tables for you to get table service while viewing the latest blockbusters along with a variety of cocktails and wine selections.
Instantly the service and setting just trump the likes of Cineworld and Odeon. This is a classy cinema. The staff/service are funky and have always been extremely bubbly and friendly on all our visits. The setting is full marks for it being a cinema and Star Wars 🀣 go see the new film guys it’s a great end and improvement on the last one. ✨
The tapas we chose were delicious. Big flavoursome olives, bite sized chorizo which is to die for. Juicy and packed with flavour and a wood fire aftertaste. The Guacamole was nice but be warned it comes with a kick and a fair bit of chilli 🌢 but I love spicey so all good for me.
For my main I had the wood fired pizza which was cute and easy to pick up. It was very fresh toppings.
My partner had the burger and chips which he said was fairly decent. The food is really nice, not outstanding but you kind of want just simple dishes while watching a film so it does the job.
Overall we highly recommend this venue for its unique approach to cinema and hospitality. The price is a bit higher but you get a totally different experience from your normal cinemas.
Comparing it to The Grosvenor cinema we prefer Everyman for its more varied menu, more comfortable seating, the bubbly staff and lovely reception area. @everymanglasgow #glasgow #cinema #experiences #live #boutique #tapas #pizzas #burgers #gourmet #cocktails #starwars #film #fanatic #christmas #nightsout #instafilm #instadaily #instafood #reviews #critics #bloggers #mystery #diners

The Cotton House
πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Nothing like skipping the gym to go out for a chinese right? πŸ™ˆπŸ™Š The Cotton House Chinese Restaurant has always been a place I've wanted to go, so as one half of the 'Mystery Diners', I had to give it the taste test! This is an authentic Chinese restaurant with beautiful decor to compliment. As you walk in your eyes are quickly drawn to the over sized fish tank, which made me think of that famous movie scene in Romeo & Juliet. Maybe you could lock eyes with the love of your life through this fish tank? Who knows πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ Very spacious & bright with an extensive bar (we like that πŸ™ŒπŸ₯‚) As it's December, the staff had clearly made an effort to decorate the place to make you feel all those festive vibes πŸŽ„

To start I chose Chicken Satay on skewers. Yum, yum, yum!! The chicken was so juicy it just fell away from the skewer & was packed with flavour. The satay sauce was tasty and fresh. Not oily at all. For my main I opted for Salt & Chilli Chicken with a side of Salt & Chilli chips. I'm all about the salt & chilli life πŸ˜‹ This was to die for!! If you love proper chinese food, this is a must!! The chicken again was so tender and flavoursome. The chips were perfect, couldn't fault them 😍 with an added drizzle of delicious curry sauce, this made for one fab lil' dish πŸ™Œ The service was good & attentive, but maybe a bit rushed at times. The value was spot on as this was the pre-theatre menu which was 2 courses for Β£18.50.

To conclude, the food was outstanding and I can't wait to visit again to try other dishes 😍 @thecottonhouserestaurant #mysterydiners #glasgow #centralscotland #foodbloggers #reviews #food #scran
