We have to thank the Wicked Lounge & Wild Cabaret for an amazing Hogmanay last night and start to 2020! 🎆
The venue provides a Speak Easy feel, normally a 3 course meal while watching a Cabaret Show with Burlesque, Live Singing, Comedy and Acrobats.
When we arrived we were given a huge booth with a great view for the show. We were pleasantly surprised to be getting 6 courses 😍 which we had not seen on any of the advertising or menus that were sent over to our email when booking.
We had a varied, generous amount of delicious Aperitifs, a mixture of Pate, Scallops, Mushrooms and Potato Bites. Then a choice of soup, most of us had the Cullen Skink. It was pleasant but a little watered down and not as chowdery as we prefer this dish. The fish tasted very fresh & it wasn’t too heavy. Then for the 3rd dish is the starter which I choose the Stornaway Black Pudding & egg. It was delicious but a little cold. The vegetarians at the table had the Asparagus which was a little uninspired & bland.
For the 4th dish half of us opted for the Beef Fillet which was a nice cut of meat, cooked medium rare and had a nice Asparagus, mash side. The other half had the ChickPea Curry which was very spicy and a generous amount of Hallumi. We all demolished the lot. For the 5th course which was Dessert most of us opted for the Caramel Crepe which in turn was a microwaved Mars Bar melted inside a hard crepe like coating so not a French Crepe style. The other choice was the Creme Brule which was enjoyable but not ground-breaking.
Lastly, we were served up a huge cheeseboard to share which was all too much so we asked to take most of that home.
The venue had amazing service last night & the staff were friendly & efficient. The show itself, we have been a few times & enjoyed it but thinks there should be some more male dancers as it was mostly female apart from the comedian so would feel more balanced this way. It was a cheeky & fun show and a great way to bring in the bells. It comes highly recommended for a special event with family & friends due to its unique concept! @wildcabaret
