🙋🏻‍♂️ “Glasgow Bred, American Fed” is the Motto for this Steak/Burger chain that has two restaurants in Glasgow, one on Sauchiehall St, and this one in the Merchant Square. I arrive on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime having been to the gym and worked up quite an appetite. I stand to look at the menu for what seems like 5 minutes with nobody approaching me, so I venture inside. The waitress sees me and gets off her laptop to show me to a table. It wasn’t the warmest welcome I’ve ever had but she wasn’t rude either, but maybe a bit lacking in enthusiasm with not much chat on the menu, just basic service “what would you like” etc.

On the menu, they have a bull logo next to signature dishes so I choose one of the top pics “Philli Cheese Steak Ciabatta” and Sweet Potato Fries. Once served I am surprised at the unusual display of fries in a mini shopping basket and the serving is huge for just me, but they are cute nonetheless. The fries had an unusual honey taste which I found a little sickly. The Ciabatta filling was nice with a tender cut of steak meat and nice flavours in the sauce with peppers but the Ciabatta roll wasn’t what I was hoping for. The roll was the fluffy, dry type of bread you might expect from a supermarket. I think this dish would work better with a crispier and sweeter roll like Brioche or crunchy Ciabbta.

Back to the service – there was no offer of a refill for my drink as the staff all appeared to be in a team meeting in a circle applauding each other. I think if they are going to do this in working hours a little 360 awareness wouldn’t go a miss. Took a while to get attention to settle the bill. There are many other tasty looking options on the menu, including just the steak itself and, an impressive cocktail menu so we shall likely return for a revisit. Overall – room for improvement but not terrible.
