Newly opened in the West End, Ka - Pao, pronounced, (KA-POW) certainly packs a punch. Coverage has been insane since it’s launch 🚀 night last week for this South Asian new venture from the owners of the 'Ox and Finch'.
Situated opposite the famous Hillhead Bookclub, we make our way down stairs into the restaurant. We are shown to our table and start to skim over the varied menu. The menu is overwhelming at first as it’s not clear as to the size of the dishes or no indication as to whether you order all at once or a starter/main.
Service was lovely throughout but more of an introduction to the menu like, “because we are new let me talk you through the menu” “what dishes do you like spicy mild etc, because you love that your going to love this dish” a more personal touch would be good although everyone was lovely & was able to answer our questions.
We were hank marvin so had 5 dishes between us. The Number 1 thing on this menu to try is the Caramel Chicken which was like biting into a piece of heaven. The most tender chicken ever, no bone, light and crispy batter with a caramel syrup coating. It is worth visiting here for this dish alone - that’s how good it is! We had one each it’s that good! Corn ribs, salted coconut, soy and lime. Wow! This was tasty A.F 😍 the sauce had a smoky bbq flavour which went perfectly with the salted coconut! A unique combo! Up next was the braised beef curry, toasted coconut, cassia and tamarind. The beef was delicate & cooked beautifully. Our next favourite was the Roasted Duck Leg and Long Pepper Red Curry which had a more Thai Lemongrass taste. Succulent & a bit spicy. Our least favourite dish was the Grilled Beef Salad with Garlic Shallots. It was full of flavour but there was too much fat left on the beef for our personal taste. 😮
Ka Pao is definitely the place to be just now! The food is to die for & the flavours are spot on! Can’t wait to visit again for more Caramel Chicken (maybe x10 portions 🤣) & try other dishes @kapaogla #glasgow #westend #reviews #instadaily #instafood #mysterydiners #foodblog #foodporn #scran #musttry
