We are so in love with the Southside just now. Some great cafes & restaurants 🥳

Somewhere that’s been on our list for a while is the @restbattlefield since 1914, this was originally a resting place for Tram travellers. Very unique 👌

We had booked for a meal outside but with a sharp change in the weather ☔️ we asked for a seat indoors and they were very accommodating. The interior is vintage & it's got a warming feel to it 🥰

Starter “A Trio of Scotland” 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

“Haggis Polpette, Smoked Mackerel Pate, a spiced tomato chutney and black crowdie cheese crostini” - this was brilliant. I was so impressed with the flavours, textures and presentation.

Mains “Crab Linguine” 🦀

“Linguine tossed in garlic, chilli, lemon, spinach, red onion, cherry tomato and crab meat” - I loved the colours and presentation. I found this dish pleasant but a bit more chilli & lemon was needed for that extra kick. I ate the lot though so considered myself satisfied 😋

Starter 'Schiaccita Salsiccia'

Home baked pizza base, brushed with garlic, olive paste, topped with caramelized onions and Italian sausage.

I enjoyed my starter, great flavour from the onions & sausage. There was quite a lot of the crust, a little dip would be lovely to dunk the crusts into. (Love a dip me 😂)

Main 'Asparagus & Ricotta Ravioli'

Served with a creamy chicken, tarragon & asparagus sauce.

Side of Garlic Bread with Mozzarella

Really enjoyed my main, if you love a creamy pasta dish, then you'll be in heaven 😍 The cheesy g bread was perfect to dip into the sauce! Yum!

We also shared 'Antipasti for 2' we chose the meat one. It was good, we do feel it could be doing with some more of the meat, cheeses etc and some dipping accompaniments. There was only 1 slice of bread, maybe another 1 on there as it's 'for 2'.

Overall, I genuinely think the quality of the food here is really good & authentic! Just a few tweaks here & there to improve dishes/portions. Can't wait to try more!
