Part 1

Throwback to early this year & a video appears online, @sixbynico owner & well renowned chef Nico Simeone is in his office with his staff, presenting & handing over his star chef Modou, with a whole business. His 111 branch is being changed from Nico to Modou. It is documented that Modou came to this country with just a small amount of cash to his name & had lived rough for sometime & managed to totally turn his life around. So for us, this was a must visit! This isn’t just a restaurant. This is a story of passion, friendship, self belief, hard work & talent. πŸ’•

The Food πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ (Mr Diners Menu)

1 BLACK TRUFFLE

Presented to the most excellent standard. I could have eaten about 5 of these. They have to be savoured however. This was the epitome of fine dining & a real show opener

2 SMOKED HAM HOUGH

Just wow - check out the video & the amazing smoking presentation. This was not all style over substance however. This was actually my favourite dish out of the 6 dishes I tried. The Ham meat was smooth & I’ve never had such a delicate piece of fat alongside. It actually made fat elegant? How did they do that? Perfection!

3 DUCK

This dish was also really nice. I can’t cast my mind back too much to the flavours (I’ll blame the wine) but i remember i enjoyed it.

4 LAMB BELLY

So this was my least favourite but it was still very nice. The textures didn’t flow as well as the other options but still to a high standard.

5 CHEESE (SUPP)

We all opted for this and it was actually one of the best dishes. The cheese was an unusual Camembert which can be purchased from a store on Great Western Rd so I will need to enquire as it was one of the best. The piece of cake was also so nice with the cheese πŸ§€

6 LEMON

I loved this dessert palate cleanser. The basil ice cream was heavenly with the citrus contrast. Herby & earthy with that zest it was an uplifting way to finish a wonderful experience

Part 2 - Miss Diner πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

Two words that spring to my mind when thinking about my experience at Modou would be indulgent & exquisite! What a treat, the quality of the food & the service is impeccable 🀩 Our waiter was a lovely guy called Nico! He was a fountain of knowledge & so helpful talking us through each course (and that all important matching wine flight πŸ˜‰πŸ·)

1st - Black Truffle (pictured in Mr Diner's review) Yeah we had the same to start πŸ˜‚ If you are a fan of Black Truffle then you will love this flavoursome number!

2nd - Loch Etive Sea Trout (1st picture) WOW. That charred flavour though 🀀 the fish was extremely smooth & that Quail's Egg was a match made in heaven!

3rd - Pink Fir Apple Potato This was an interesting mix of flavours with the potato cooked a few different ways πŸ˜‰ with a pea emulsion, bloody good I'll tell ye!

4th - Shetland Cod I loved this dish, the mix of chorizo & mussels really brought out the flavours in the fish! Delish 😍

Cheese Supp - I love cheese so that got devoured πŸ˜‚πŸ§€

5th - Golden Peach I normally love a chocolate dessert but this seriously changed my mind 😍 the flavours of juicy peach & ginger were incredible! Sweet & zingy 🀀

This was just magic.. What a talented chef we have gained here in Glasgow, fantastic πŸ‘ @111bymodou
